CONTACT/CONNECT – An Art Exhibition bringing Japan and the world together
Art from Japan and around the world find mutual points of contact to create stimulation. This exhibition explores the influences and resonances exerted upon various artists from around the world and Japan in the fields of fine art, literature, film and manga, such as Matisse, Richter, Yasumasu Morimura and Akira Kurozawa.
The exhibition venue is none other than the World Heritage Site Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which also conceivably is the “original museum” in Japan, because it has championed art and culture from long ago, bringing works of art to the attention of the public. Thus, in this fitting setting, visitors can enjoy installations arranged to make the most of the beautiful garden areas and traditional architecture.
The task of overall director is undertaken by the novelist Maha Harada, who has written many in-depth books on art and who also has had a career as a curator.
Visitors can enter this exhibition from 7:00 in the morning, so ICOM participants can come and enjoy the art before sitting down to conference meetings.

Kyoto Children’s Museum Forum
This year, the International Council of Museums will be held for the first time in Japan in Kyoto (ICOM Kyoto 2019). On the final day of the general conference, a unique event will be held at the Kyoto National Museum predominantly involving children, showcasing their efforts to carry our regional cultures on into the future.
The children will present four unique performing arts and festival events—making it a wonderful opportunity to communicate the appeals of traditional Kyoto to the rest of the world.
At the same time, special classes will be held for the next-generation of children to help them understand and get closer to cultural properties.
The theme for ICOM Kyoto 2019 is “Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition.” We hope you will take this chance to view the fantastic performances of these children, and their tireless activities to carry tradition on into the future.- Date:

¿Estamos listos?
